Remington
"blocked" firing pin?
Q.
I have a Remington rifle and
want to purchase a SpeedLock firing pin for it, but I see
there is a "blocked pin" reference in the ordering page. My
rifle is a couple years old so how do I know if my rifle has
a blocked pin or not?
A.
The blocked pin was introduced in
2000 by Remington. It essentially is a pin which has a
portion that it cut away so that when a keyed insert
(Remington Green) is inserted in the cocking piece and
turned to a locked position, then the firing pin cannot
fall. If you rifle doesn't have the key insert on the bolt
shroud and isn't a "TSS" model (year 2000 or newer police
model) then you don't have the blocked pin.
