DTAC BN Coating
CUSTOM COATING SERVICE & GUIDELINES
The next step.
Boron Nitride bullet coating is now being applied using SSS Inc. proprietary bullet coating methods and precision equipment. The controls we exercise over this process provide a superior finished product.
BN offers the following advantages --
- superior to moly coating, goes on clear
- first shots stay on zero
- high temperature resistance
- no corrosive properties
Boron Nitride coated bullets are now available through Superior Shooting Systems Inc. SSS Inc. will be coating its DTAC line of bullets with Boron Nitride (BN). DTAC bullets will still be offered without BN coating.
This bullet coating process cannot be accomplished with conventional equipment. In anticipation of requests for BN coating of customer bullets, SSS Inc. is pleased to announce that it will provide this service under the following parameters.
SSS Inc. will Boron Nitride coat quantities of 1000 bullets or more. This means that the specific lot quantity must be of 1000 or more bullets to be run at once, not 10 batches of 100 different bullets. SSS Inc. will be happy to combine a customer's bullets into a single batch in order to make the 1000 bullet minimum. SSS Inc. suggests that the customer pick dissimilar bullets if they are to be mixed. For instance, .30 caliber 175s with .22 caliber 77s would be easy for the customer to separate after coating. SSS Inc. does not recommend mixing similar bullets, say .22 caliber 80s with .22 caliber 77s. These bullets would be more difficult for the customer to later separate after they have been coated. It is the customer's responsibility to sort his mixed bullets after they have been coated and returned.
All bullets received by SSS Inc. for Boron Nitride coating will need to have been thoroughly cleaned in new tumbling media prior to shipping to SSS Inc. Factory-sealed boxes of Sierra or Berger bullets do not need to be cleaned prior to coating.
The cost for the BN coating service is $0.05 per bullet ($50.00/1000 bullet run). Customer pays shipping costs both ways. SSS Inc. uses a high grade of Boron Nitride in its coating process and has come to follow the procedure now used through constant testing and evaluation over the past two years.
