Tubb Precision CS Firing Pin Spring - Rem 700 Long Action
Tubb Precision CS Firing Pin Spring for Remington 700 Long Action
Tubb Precision Chrome Silicon springs are made from the highest quality Chrome Silicon alloy. These are the only firearms springs constructed from this superior material and held to rigid 9002 Quality Control Standards. Along with the use of certified materials, this combination yields the highest quality, most consistent, and best performing spring available.
All Superior Shooting Systems Inc. Tubb Precision CS springs are heat treated, stress relieved, and shot peened after winding to enhance grain structure, remove stresses, and maximize durability and stability. This guarantees extremely close tolerances in meeting our specification criteria. A standard spring cannot successfully be treated to these processes. To the shooter it means consistency and correctness in function -- quicker lock time, fewer vibrations, and a more accurate rifle.
When a conventional spring is first installed is the last time it's doing its job as designed. Standard music wire springs are notorious for changing characteristics. We have all heard that a spring will take a "set" (compress to a shorter length) and then stay there for the remainder of its life. Not true! All springs continue to degrade and shorten with each cycle. The question is when and how much? Our springs are made from the same Chrome Silicon alloy used in the manufacture of valve springs for Indy car engines. Those springs can easily endure over one million compression cycles at high temperature in one afternoon -- a much harsher environment than experienced in any firearm.
It is standard practice by top riflemen to replace the firing pin spring on each rebarrel, but now that's not necessary. CS Springs ensure consistency for the entire life of the firearm, not just one barrel. All CS Springs are direct replacement items.
CS Features -
Extended life and optimum performance -
When a factory Remington® 700 firing pin spring, for example, has lost one-inch of free length, it has lost over 25 percent of its original power (this amount of set normally occurs in less than one year, even if the rifle is not used). A CS spring will lose 1 coil of free length in the first year and then remain that way for the rest of its life. Since the CS spring is designed to have slightly higher striking energy when new, once it has taken a set during the first year it will continue to perform at full power for the rest of its life.
Our CS springs are duty rated for 500,000 compression cycles with a loss of no more than one quarter of an inch. This means that a CS spring will outlast a conventional music wire spring by 100 times.
"Extra power" at factory weight -
Due to the superior nature of its material, our CS springs have the same power as a conventional "extra power" spring, yet provide that extra striking energy using a lighter spring weight! This insures reliable ignition while minimizing sear pressures and bolt lift effort, resulting in a more consistent, durable trigger pull and smoother rifle operation.
Perfect consistency -
Rigid 9002 Quality Control Standards, certified materials use, and our exclusive post-winding processing guarantees true performance. Although this is the last spring you'll ever need to buy, it may not be the only Tubb Precision CS spring you ever purchase!
No firing pin interference -
Conventional "extra-power" springs must use larger diameter wire. This reduces clearance between the firing pin and inside body wall of the bolt -- friction is created, lock time is slowed, inconsistency develops. Our superior CS material means smaller diameter wire, more room inside the bolt body, less chance of binding and truer ignition consistency.
